Bruno Henrique’s beautiful situation before Bahia
According to records, goalkeeper Danilo Fernandes was hospitalized after a bomb exploded on a bus, when his Bahia team was traveling to Fonte Nova Arena to receive Sampaio Correa in the framework of the Copa do Nordeste.
The goalkeeper was seriously injured and had to be rushed to the hospital after being hit by shrapnel.
Thankfully, there were no deaths even though Fernandes, 33, was hospitalized and monitored overnight.
Bahia Club, the team playing in the Campeonato Baiano, in the state of Bahia, Brazil confirmed: ” Danilo Fernandes is fine, but will spend the night in the hospital. This goalkeeper has suffered multiple injuries to his face, neck and lower extremities, sutures will be required and will be monitored for further examination and evaluation by an ophthalmologist, as there is a cut near the eye.”
Fernandes’ teammates Matheus Bahia and Marcelo Cirino also suffered minor injuries in the attack. Bahia went on to confirm that a vehicle that was accidentally passing by was also damaged by the blast.
After negotiations, Bahia decided to still play and coach Guto Ferreira said: “The whole team, through their dignity and professionalism, will step on the field to honor Bahia’s colors.”
Bahia won 2-0 thanks to goals from Daniel, former Wigan and Fulham captain Hugo Rodallega.
