ITA Names 17 Dragons as Scholar Athletes

TEMPE, Ariz. –The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has named 17 student-athletes from the Drexel men’s and women’s tennis teams as scholar-athletes. Both teams were also recognized for their excellence in the classroom by being named ITA All-Academic Teams.

On the men’s tennis team, Hugo BrungsAlvaro Cruz ChamorroAlex De SousaSanil JagtianiDjordje JanackovicYoussef LahlouJuan Manuel SanchezMatvey Radionov and Gustav Wogen earned the honor.

For the women, Isabel CabrerizoCristina Corte GonzálezMya FuentesAida Garcia MendezMarta MartinezŠárka RichterováTara Veluvolu and Salma Ziouti received recognition.

To receive scholar-athlete recognition, a student must have a grade point average of at least 2.5 for the current academic year. For a program to be named an ITA All-Academic Team, it must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or higher.
