Klopp’s teachers and students were led by Shrewsbury, but came back with the goals of Gordon, Fabinho (double) and Firmino.
Before the opponent from the third division, coach Jurgen Klopp used a squad of many young players. The four stars given the opportunity are all in the defense (Fabinho, Van Dijk, Konate and Robertson).
“The Kop” held the ball at times up to 88% in the first half, but did not create enough pressure to penetrate the multi-layered wall in front of Shrewsbury’s goal. Even the home team conceded a goal first after a sharp counterattack in the 27th minute.
From the stretch on the left wing, Udoh hit the goal to hit goalkeeper Kelleher. The number 11 also angered the home fans by recreating the usual celebration of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Liverpool woke up after the goal. In the 34th minute, Gordon picked up a cross from the right wing. The player born in 2004 handled calmly and then shot into the far corner to equalize for the Anfield team.
Ten minutes later, it was the turn of the 2002 midfielder Morton to earn a penalty. Fabinho took advantage of the opportunity from the 11-yard spot to give the hosts the first-time lead.
Entering the second half, coach Klopp strengthened the attack by launching Takumi Minamino and Roberto Firmino respectively into the field. The host just played and kept his strength but still did not let the opponent have space to get on the ball.
In the 79th minute, Firmino put an end to Shrewsbury’s efforts with a goal with his back to the goal. His heel jerk took the entire opponent’s defense by surprise.
Liverpool continued to press in the late game. In injury time 90+3, Fabinho hit two consecutive shots from close range to set a 4-1 win for the Merseyside team.
In the match at the same time, another representative of the Premier League, Tottenham, was led and also had a comeback against Morecambe at home to win tickets to continue. Harry Winks, Lucas Moura and Harry Kane helped “Rooster” win 3-1.
