HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Drexel men’s lacrosse team opens postseason play on Thursday night on Long Island. The ninth-ranked Dragons will face UMass in the 2021 Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Lacrosse Championships. The Dragons are the second seed in the tournament, while the Minutemen are the third seed. The second semifinal of the day will take place at 7 p.m. at Shuart Stadium on the campus of Hofstra University.
The Dragons, who are now 8-2 and 6-2 in CAA play, will face UMass (4-5, 4-4 CAA) for the third time this season. UMass won the first meeting in Amherst, while Drexel won the rematch in Philadelphia. The Dragons begin play with a seven-game winning streak. They are ranked ninth in the USILA Coaches Poll and 13th in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.
The opening game on Thursday will feature top seed Delaware (10-2, 7-1 CAA), against Hofstra (7-5, 4-4 CAA), the fourth seed, at 4 p.m. The winners of both games advance to play in the title game of the CAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship on Saturday at 1 p.m..
