PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men’s tennis program has announced its 2021-22 schedule. The Dragons compete in a few familiar fall invitationals in September and October and then return to a full schedule starting in January.
“We are excited to compete in a somewhat normal setting,” Director of Tennis and Head Coach Mehdi Rhazali said. “The schedule we have is competitive, and we have the right team for it. I am excited to see the returning students continue to develop on and off the court. I cannot wait to see Alan Jesudason in action for the first time this fall, and sophomore Alex De Sousa, who could not play last year, bring new energy and a competitive spirit to the team. We have an amazing team, and I cannot believe it is my tenth season as the head men’s tennis coach. I am honored to lead this awesome group.”
To begin its fall season, Drexel travels to Penn and participates in the three-day Penn Fall Invite September 17-19. The Dragons then make the trip to the Main Line on September 24-26 to participate in the Saint Joseph’s Fall Invitational.
The men then turn their attention towards the ITA Regionals, which is held on Penn’s campus October 14-19. Drexel returns to Vidas Courts to host the Dragons Invitational on October 30 and 31 to close out the fall schedule.
The Dragons begin their spring season on January 14, hosting Buffalo. A week later, on January 22, the DU travels to Providence, R.I. to face Brown.
A two-match home stretch is slated to take place on February 5th and 6th against NJIT and Bucknell. After that, the Dragons take on Temple on February 9 at the Owls’ home court and then travel to Monmouth on the 12.
Drexel faces Lehigh at home on February 19, followed by a visit to Penn on February 23 and a home match against Boston University on February 26.
Drexel heads on the road to Navy on March 5 before returning home to face Georgetown on March 9. Drexel’s match on March 11 against St. John’s is the last before the Dragons enter spring break.
During spring break, Drexel plays two of the four conference matches it has slated. The Dragons travel to Williamsburg, Va. to face William & Mary on March 22. Two days later, James Madison plays host to the Dragons in Harrisonburg, Va.
The Dragons return home to Philadelphia to face Saint Joseph’s on its home court on March 30 and visit Villanova on April 6. Drexel then hosts Temple at Vidas Courts on April 8.
Drexel wraps up the regular season by visiting Army on April 10 and Delaware on April 15 and hosting Hofstra on April 16.
