Zach Spiker Named Lindy Award Winner for Campus and Civic Engagement

PHILADELPHIA – Drexel Men’s Basketball Head Coach Zach Spiker has been named a 2021 Lindy Center for Civic Engagement Award winner. He was given the Staff Award for Campus and Community Engagement. Spiker is the first Drexel coach to win the award.

The award is given to one staff member each year that exhibits the tenets of good campus or community partnership in their efforts regardless of their university role.

Spiker has been a vocal supporter for the new Center for Black Culture. He raised and matched $10,000 for the creation of the Center and, equally important, has championed its mission on educating and fighting racism in our country. When his family made the donation, Spiker stated that he would like this to be an action step that helps sustain a better future experience for our players, managers and all of members the current and future Black Community at Drexel.

Spiker’s nomination notably highlighted the ways he models engagement for his team and leads them in education, reflection, and action by advocating for justice in other important issue areas including cancer, homelessness, and programming for youth.
