TEMPE, Ariz. –The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has named 17 student-athletes from the Drexel men’s and women’s tennis teams as scholar-athletes. Both teams were also recognized for their excellence in the classroom by being named ITA All-Academic Teams.
On the men’s tennis team, Hugo Brungs, Alvaro Cruz Chamorro, Alex De Sousa, Sanil Jagtiani, Djordje Janackovic, Youssef Lahlou, Juan Manuel Sanchez, Matvey Radionov and Gustav Wogen earned the honor.
For the women, Isabel Cabrerizo, Cristina Corte González, Mya Fuentes, Aida Garcia Mendez, Marta Martinez, Šárka Richterová, Tara Veluvolu and Salma Ziouti received recognition.
To receive scholar-athlete recognition, a student must have a grade point average of at least 2.5 for the current academic year. For a program to be named an ITA All-Academic Team, it must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or higher.
