PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women’s tennis team (1-0) opened their spring season on Friday with a 4-3 win against Seton Hall (0-2).
Salma Ziouti and Šárka Richterová won their No. 1 doubles match, 6-3. The Dragons took the lead over the Pirates after Cristina Corte González and Tara Veluvolu beat their opponents in the second-seeded doubles match and secured the doubles point for the Dragons. Pauline Kharkover and Marta Martinez also won in their third-seeded doubles match.
Richterová won her No. 2 singles match to give the Dragons a 2-0 lead. Following her was Ziouti, who took the No. 1 singles match. Kharkover won her fifth-seeded singles flight to clinch the vital fourth point and the match for the Dragons.
The Dragons are scheduled to return to the court on Friday, March 26, against La Salle at the Vidas Bubble at 1 p.m.
